On July 7th, a significant session on the POCSO Act and POSH was held at Arrupe Hall. The program began with a heartfelt prayer song by Loyola School, followed by a warm welcome to the gathering. The session was led by resource person Fr. Cyprian SJ, with the esteemed presence of Fr. Leo Periera SJ, the superior, and it commenced promptly at 9:00 AM.
Fr. Cyprian provided a detailed overview of two critical laws enacted by the Government of India: the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act of 2013 and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act of 2012. He also elaborated on whom these acts apply to and who is eligible to file complaints under them. Additionally, he explained the salient features of the POCSO Act, ensuring that the attendees were well-informed about the key aspects of these laws.
His insightful talk emphasized the importance of these laws in safeguarding the rights and dignity of individuals, particularly in educational settings. Fr.
